The name Chianto is pronounced “Shē an to” and combines the names of Sheila's three grown children: Charlene, Ian and Tony. The creation of this name over twenty-five years ago was the first step in the pursuit of a life-long dream.

About Us

Chianto by Sheila provides each customer with high quality merchandise to meet their athletic needs.

Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Chianto by Sheila is a custom design & production studio specializing in athletic performance apparel. An "off-the-rack" product line covering activewear, skatewear and swimwear is also available and in continuing development. All products are available in Chianto’s Winnipeg studio (by appointment only) or through Chianto’s website (e-mail/phone orders only).

Begun in 1998 as a custom design and production studio for clothing and home decor, the Chianto focus switched to skatewear and skating costume design in 2002 following a request to sew for a young male skater. That original design focus has moved forward to include a variety of other athletic fields (body building, fitness, dance, gymnastics, swimming, etc.). Chianto by Sheila is 100% Canadian owned with Chianto products, both custom and "off-the-rack", designed and produced in the Winnipeg studio (unless otherwise noted).

Since 2007, Chianto’s on-line presence has been focussed solely on the sport of figure skating. As of January 1, 2012 that focus changed to incorporate the broader portfolio of Chianto’s product line and custom work. The separate skating and fitness logos used by Chianto over the past five (5) years have now been incorporated into a new logo emphasizing a broader product focus and Chianto’s proud Canadian roots.

Whether you choose Chianto by Sheila for your custom design and production needs or make the decision to purchase a unique Chianto product, every attempt will be made to ensure that your experience is a rewarding and beneficial one. Through one-to-one contact and a devotion to quality customer service, Chianto by Sheila will work to ensure your needs are met in an efficient, courteous and timely manner.

Chianto by Sheila continues to research new and improved technical fabrics and construction techniques in an effort to provide each customer with high quality merchandise to meet their athletic needs. Suggestions from prospective as well as past and current clients are always welcome at sheila@chianto.ca.

Effective for the 2011-2012 season, Chianto by Sheila is pleased to offer the Chianto Award as part of the bursary disbursements at the annual Skate Canada Manitoba Grass Roots Bursary Gala Dinner & Awards. This award will be presented annually to the Manitoba senior level skater or skaters who achieve the highest level accomplishment at a national level competition. For the inaugural award, the recipient is Kate Charbonneau representing Skate Winnipeg who placed 6th at the 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships.
